Course Requirements
- Students must establish an email account and server space through
Rutgers.
- All electronic documents must be published online and maintained
for at least one month following the end of the course — and the Final Project must be submitted both online and on a CD-ROM.
- Attendance is required — students missing 4 classes fail the course.
- No plagiarism!

- Sketch on paper a homepage that would go with your Links page — see the Homepage assignment for help conceiving designs.

- Use Design Baseline to review Rutgers homepage and a site from your Links page: draw wireframes (see Summers p7) and give brief comments.
- Read Castro Ch 8-11.
- Finish Links.
- Read the Feature assignment and complete the Prep.

- Discuss design and site reviews.
- Do peer review with Links page Checklist (.doc) and make quick revisions.
- Briefly describe your Final Project concept on the back of the Checklist and then turn it in for Instructor's formal comments.
- Do CSS Exercise and start Feature Rough Draft.
Wk3 Homework
- Read: Williams Ch 1-7; Castro Ch 6-7; parts 1 & 3 of Fair Use Guidelines; WP Plagiarism page.
- Use Williams and Design Baseline (pdf) to critique Creative Commons and a site you might want to emulate for your Final Project design (draw wireframes and make brief comments).
- Practice Photoshop (at an RUCS lab):
— Sketch on paper some iconic (e.g., something like an arrow or decorative letters or text) or informational (e.g., something like a statistic table, brief timeline, graph, or illustration) images you could create ifor your Links or Feature. You might also sketch a banner image for your site.
— Start trying to create your images in Photoshop (or your graphics software of choice). For general Photoshop help, try GetIt, InformIT, and About. We'll take time in classfor this during Wk4.
- Build Feature Rough Draft.
