Supervisor's Duties

We wish to thank all supervisors for their efforts in providing valuable experience for our writing interns. We know that supervising others is often a very time-consuming job. The duties described here, therefore, are kept to a minimum and are intended to facilitate the supervisor's role. You are invited to contact the Internship Director at any time if you have questions or comments.

Internship Contract (.pdf file)
The contract is not intended as a "legally binding" document and we expect that it will need to be revised as the internship develops throughout the semester. But by filling out a contract with the intern, a supervisor has an opportunity to formally discuss mutual expectations. It is also a chance for you to think seriously about the types of writing tasks that you feel comfortable assigning to the intern while sketching out a schedule for the timely completion of those tasks.

Supervisor's Midterm Evaluation (.html form)
The midterm evaluation is an opportunity for you to reflect on how well the intern is fulfilling the expectations you had at the beginning of the semester and to decide whether the Internship Contract may need to be modified in some ways. If you have any concerns about the intern's performance -- especially concerns that may affect the student's grade for the internship -- please take this opportunity to voice your concerns.

Supervisor's Final Evaluation (.html form)
The final evaluation is where you discuss the intern's overall performance at your workplace. Your comments in the evaluation will be used to help determine the grade the student will receive for the internship.
