Week 2
Read for class resume and cover letter chapter in the coursepack (67-80).
Read for class The Portable Business Writer (183-215).
Meet in Alexander Library for Library tour.
Bring three possible final paper ideas.

Week 3
Resumes and Cover Letters.
Hand in Library Assignment.
Revision and Concision.
Resumes and Cover Letters drafts due in hard copy.
Peer Review.
Final Resumes and Cover Letters due (must include job ad or posting, one hard copy and one copy on disk).

Week 4
In-class newspaper exercise (258).
Read Sample Project Proposals online at the 303 site. 
Read for class three different newspapers and choose a "problem" article for class discussion.
Read for class through "Dental Practice Proposal" (187-203).
Read for class Gladwell, "Designs for Working" (43-51).
Read for class Chapter 4 in the coursepack, "Researching Your Topic" (81-94).

Week 5
Read for class the Portable Business Writer, Sections 18-22.
Read for class coursepack chapter 5, "The Midterm Assignment" (95-122).
Rough Draft of Topic Proposal due.
Final Topic Proposals due at 6PM, Sunday October 8 (emailed).

Week 6
Meet in Computer Lab in 38 Murray.
Read for class Bowen and Shoemaker's "Loyalty: A Strategic Commitment" (pp. 37-50).
Read for class Deal and Kennedy, "Strong Cultures,"  (34-42).
Annotated Bibliography due (6 sources with annotations in MLA style). 
Rough draft due of Midterm Paper. Bring in two copies:  one to hand in, and one for peer revision.

Week 7
More revision.  Bring your draft midterm paper on disk to the computer lab in Murray Hall.
Sign up for conferences.
Midterm sales letter due.

Week 8
Individual conferences in my office.

Week 9
Read for class chapter 6, "The Oral Presentation" (123-140).
Read for class The Portable Business Writer (179-181).
Videos of oral presentations, instructor modeling of good and bad presentation styles.
Sign up for Oral Presentations.
PowerPoint lesson. Meet in Computer Lab in 38 Murray Hall.

Week 10
Graphic Aids Assignment (264) in coursepack.
Read for class The Portable Business Writer (123-132).
Read for class Allison Rhodes, "Summer with Shakespeare" (167-186).
Read for class chapter 7, "The Project Proposal" (141-256).
Oral Presentations begin.

Week 11
Oral Presentations.
Optional Procedures Manual Due

Week 12
Oral Presentations.          

Week 13
Rough Draft #1 Due.

Rough Draft #2 of Project Proposal Due.

Week 14
No class--Final conferences with instructor.

Week 15
