Course Description
This course offers students practice in the forms and discourses of
business and professional writing as they develop, research, and revise
an independent project. We begin by working on the resume and cover
letter, both as professional documents and as examples of writing for
a specific audience. Then each student develops an independent class
project through several stages of revision, including a midterm paper,
a formal oral presentation, and a final project proposal or business
plan. Topics are freely chosen, though students taking the course usually
propose business plans, community initiatives, or grant proposals.

Students in the CASE section must develop a proposal or business plan
for their community partners.
Please note: students do not have to sign up for CASE to take one of
these sections of Writing for Business and Professions, though it is
strongly encouraged.
