Week 1
Introduction to course,
Writing Sample
Discussion of topics.
Read coursepack introduction section and resume cover letter section.

Week 2
Drafting the resume.
Use Coursepack and Career Services Guide for examples.
Begin cover letter.
Read Kuhn (in coursepack) to prepare for class discussion.

Week 3
Consider topic ideas as they relate to paradigms.
Library orientation and computer research methods.
Complete assigned readings from coursepack to prepare for group presentations.
Finalize cover letter and resume.

Week 4
Find funding source for proposed topic
Complete Topic Proposal writing.
Conduct research relating to the topic.
Complete group presentations of assigned readings.

Week 5
Complete Annotated Bibliography (at least 6 sources).
Continue research work.
Coursepack examples to be reviewed and discussed to prepare for midterm paper.

Week 6
First draft of midterm to be completed.
Peer workshop activities to be used to plan revision strategies.
Attention to be given to content and APA style(8 sources + in-text citations).

Week 7
Finalize midterm paper.
Powerpoint workshop and coursepack to plan Oral Presentation.
Discuss Murdick, Ch. 7.
Read Murdick, Ch. 4 for next class.

Week 8
Conferences relating to midterm papers.
Discuss Murdick, Ch.4.
Video of past Oral Presentations.
Read Murdick, Ch. 5 and discuss in class.

Week 9
Read coursepack to plan for the Project Proposal.
Discuss Murdick, Chs. 5 and 6.
Use computer lab time for work and help on Powerpoint slides.

Week 10
Class workshop for visuals to be used in Oral Presentation and Project Proposal.
Organization work for the Oral Presentations.
Time for individual and small group help sessions relating to the Oral Presentation and Project Proposal assignments.

Week 11
Oral Presentations with peer evaluations; independent work on Project Proposals; optional Procedures Manual assignment, due at some point during the Oral Presentation period.

Week 12
Oral Presentations with peer evaluations.
Peer review of Project Proposals.

Week 13
Oral Presentations with peer evaluations.
Peer review of Project Proposals.

Weeks 14 and 15
Peer revision workshop for Project Proposals.
Submit final paper in last class meeting.
