the Authors
Patrick
McGlone ("Theatre: the Closest Art to Science") is
a lighting designer and recent graduate of Mason Gross School of
the Arts.
Derek
McMahon, reviewer of Peter Hoffmann's book Tomorrow's Energy,
has just graduated from Cook College with a degree in Biological
Science and is considering a career in the health professions.
Jessica M. Schjott, a freelance writer living in Piscataway,
NJ, has a PhD in Physiology and Neuroscience from Rutgers University.
She has researched the subject of autism thoroughly and interviewed
both scientists and family members dealing with autism in preparation
for her review of the Karasiks' The Ride Together and her
own feature, "Diagnosis:Autism--Reason for Hope."
Richard
Smith, who
was ambitious enough to contact Michael Pollan for an interview,
has just finished his freshman year at Cook College and plans to
major in Computer Science.
Daneen
Whinna, a Livingston College student, is a pre-med Biology major.
Her experience of Dr. Horst Dieter Steklis in the classroom prompted
her interest in exploring the current status of the Rwandan mountain
gorillas made famous by Dian Fossey's Gorillas in the Mist.
Barbara
Hamilton (Editor) has taught at Rutgers University, Rider University,
Central Texas College, and Ocean County College. She is currently
Writing Program Coordinator for Busch Campus at Rutgers University
and instructor for Business and Technical Writing's Science Writing
course. A longtime science afficionado, she is nonetheless finishing
a dissertation on the female medieval mystics and refuses to acknowledge
any incongruity in her two academic passions.
