Acknowledgments

Thanks go to the students in the Business and Technical Writing Program's Science Writing course at Rutgers University for their submissions and advice in the creation of this online journal: Stefanie Almadovar, Kevin Henry, Melissa Hillman, Doo Kim, Lori-Ann Letavish, Esther Lujan, Michelle Parisi, Sean Parker, Christina Powell, and Carlos Ramirez. While their work was not chosen for publication, through discussion and commentary they helped maintain a creative and critical atmosphere that led to the work represented in this volume. Patrick McGlone, Derek McMahon, Jessica Schjott, Richard Smith, and Daneen Whinna are the contributors to Volume 2 of The Rutgers Assayist. Thank you all for your work and your willingness to experiment with new ways of writing about science, both in class and out.

Many thanks to James Kovalcin, William Regan, and Andrew Schwarzkopf, who provided the banner photograph.

Thanks are also due to Michael Goeller, Assistant Director of the Rutgers University Writing Program and head of Business and Technical Writing, for his continued support of the project and of the science writing class. This journal would not have happened without his aid. To the Rutgers Writing Program, my gratitude for the opportunity to explore new territory.
